YoungRider.com	My #2 suggestion for English riders is Half Chaps.  These make all the difference in the world when riding.  They add grip and help stabilize the rider’s lower leg. They prevent the pant from riding up and prevent the stirrup leather from rubbing raw patches on the rider's leg.  These are a must have item for the serious rider.    Of course there are many choices, I will post a few of the more economical ones.   Dublin Easy Care Synthetic Half Chaps. Color: Black/Sky, Pink/Light Brown, Pink/Purple, Purple/Black Size: Small (8-10) Medium (12-14) Large (16-18) Childs Elite Half Chaps with Pony Embroidery	#3 A fitted Jacket is an Instructor's Best Friend.  When riding in the winter it is best to ride in layers, that way you can shed them as you warm up.  It is my strong reccommendation that rider's not wear loose fitting, long or overstuffed jackets.  For two reasons items that are too lose or to long can get caught and cause an accident.  Secondly, it is very hard for me to see the rider's position under those big long or lose coats.  Just remember we want fitted but not too tight, you need to be able to reach forward and release when jumping.   I have found Ariat and Mountain Horse are generally good brands for winter riding gear.   Here are a few items that I ran across, of course there are MANY more out there to choose from.
